Hi All - Thinking this might be a simple issue to fix?

See the photo. I can’t make a determination but either the inlet (top) or outlet (bottom) to my heater is leaking. Seems to be coming from the slotted PVC piece (last piece you see before it turns black for the heater).

Pool is only 2 years old so I have a hard time believing this is a gasket that needs replacing. Is it as simple as using my wrench to give it a 1/4 turn? My wrench probably won’t fit so any suggestions are welcome.

The leak seem to have started after I cleaned the filters. Not sure if it’s just a coincidence so thought I’d mention it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Remove the unions from the heater, clen the orings, lubricate with silicone lubricant like Magic Lube II. Don't use teflon/PTFE lube.

Re-tighten.

Thanks, @PoolStored ! What would you recommend using to remove the unions? Would turning the pool off be sufficient? Are there other precautions I should take before removing the unions? Thanks!

edit: Nevermind. Seems a strap wrench should work well or oil filter pliers.

Start with the unions as instructed. I’ve seen brand new mastertemp manifold castings leak right out of the box at the circular groove just aft of the unions. Hopefully a good clean and lube of the o-rings will correct your leak.

Took off the unions and didn't find an O-ring on one union and the other had the O-ring between the heater manifold and the PVC. Not sure if that's right? Maybe they slipped out of place somehow? Having the builder come out and take a look now that this is beyond my skillset.

Good news is the leak appears related to the PVC only. I didn't see any damage to the manifold or threads.
