Leaking at pump backing plate

I replaced my pump motor. This forum has been a great resource over the last 1.5 weeks. I finally got everything installed tonight. The pump started but wouldn't prime. I have a heck of a leak (see pic) where the backing plate connects to the housing. I suspect the gasket moved on me when mounting. I'm getting ready disconnect everything and re-seat the gasket. I have a couple of questions: When I remove the pump do I have to replace the gasket on the diffuser and the backing plate? Or can I reuse both gaskets if they aren't damaged? I used Magic Lube on both gaskets. Is there a trick to keeping the backing plate gasket in place when mounting? I just used the lube hoping it would stay in place. Also, I tighten the bolts down to 18 foot pounds.

Maybe @1poolman1 has ideas.
Definitely looks like the O ring moved. It may be damaged as tightening with it out of place crushes it in at least two places. I like to use silicone sealant to keep it in place when reassembling, but a heavy lube should work as well. I fill the entire slot that the O ring sits in, it helps seal and is easily removed if the pump needs to be taken apart.
