Leak right befor winter

pool has dropped two feet in last week or two so have a large leak. I don’t have time or knowledge to replace the liner now. 18x30 oval Any change we can leave as is for the winter and deal with in spring. The pool was neglected this fall as just never home. Not sure if it is still leaking or not and can’t see where leak is at. It is current barely above half.

If the water stops dropping now, at about halfway down from the normal waterline, you might get away with that for closing. Not ideal, but if the liner doesn't move you might be okay. But if the water continues to leak, the following can happen:
1 - You lose chemical balance
2 - Potential damage to the soil/base around your pool.
3 - Liner can move or become dislodged

Of course if the leak is near the bottom and most of the water gets out, the entire structure could be compromised. It stinks this is happening so late in the year, but if you plan on keeping the pool it would be best to try and find that leak now before closing.
