First time poster- long time reader! I finally put down a deposit to get a Doughboy pool installed by a local shop. It will be fully out of the ground except a dug in deep end with the expandable liner.
I'm looking into options for privacy and am considering arborvitae trees along my fence line. However, I'm wondering if this could be a bad idea since it would be near the deep end of the pool. Could the root system cause issues for the liner? I'm in zone 4B so trying to find solutions that will stay alive up here as well.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to TFP! I'm no tree expert, so I can't speak to how aggressive that root system may be. But I can say that tree droppings can be a major pain to deal with. They look nice and might provide some shade. but sure can add to your maintenance, so think it through.

You don't think the root systems could be a risk to the liner that stretches to go underground?

How deep under ground is the pool? If it's like a foot then no it is not going to be a problem. And above grounds that go into the ground don't usually go into the ground anyway they just have a depression dug out. How far away from the pool will the trees be?

It will be in the ground roughly 3 ft to achieve a 7 ft deep end. The closeness to the trees or other potential landscape is adjustable, I just need to figure out the ideal position before the installer gets here. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip! Luckily arborvitae don't drop nearly as much as other trees, but I'm open to all landscaping ideas that can go up about 6-8ft.
I looked into those fences that attached to the rail of an above ground pool, but it doesn't look like any of them are privacy fences.
