Laars LX Heater possible ignitor

I am thinking my hot surface ignitor is no longer working. Is it possible to manually light the heater with a flame as I do with my BBQ grill when it's ignitor does not work?
I hope this is not a stupid question. I know once it reaches temperature it will shut off and of course not re-ignite but that's ok as I just want to get it up to temperature.
This would be a temporary fix until I can get someone out to replace the ignitor.

It can be done, timing is the difference between ignition and a big boom.

I won’t tell you how to do it, just warn you to be very cautious if you do.

NO do NOT do that. Replace the ignitor properly.

Although I'm sure it can be done, I don't think I'll take the risk of a big boom.

What error code are you getting? Does it put out any heat in the exhaust for a min or two?
