So my kids really want to swim today but when I went to turn on the filter and waterfall, the screen flashed a service mode active message at me. Now, I do know that the pool man was at the house on Monday doing what he does and I am not alarmed by this message but is it still safe for the kids to swim in there during service mode?

Your service guy just forgot to take it out of the service mode.. (Unless he told you he is working on something..)
Go look at your equipment pad to make sure everything looks together.. If so, just go to the main panel and hit the mode button once or twice to go back to Auto..
The kinds can swim whether it is in the service mode or not..
