Hi all. I have a StaRite S8m150 pool filter on a 1hp pump, 30000 gallon pool.
I’m having trouble with suction. Have tried cleaning filters (450 square foot filter media) and even did an acid bath. I get a temporary increase in suction. Sounds like the filter media needs replacement.
Cost to replace is about $750.
At this point is it better to replace the filter? Go sand…. A different cartridge model. Pool came with the house when we bought it so the setup is from previous owner.
I live in Ct so have the pool open about 3-4 months.

Before you do anything drastic like replacing a filter, let's discuss your main issue - reduced water pressure. It increases temporarily after you clean only to slow down again right? Did you know that's a classic sign of excessive organics in the water? Even what appears to be clear water? Much more common than you might think. How about we start by seeing a full set of water test results to make sure it's not organics causing that water restriction issue? We recommend posting a full set of water test results from either a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C.
