Freeform, vinyl, 21,000 gal, cartridge filter, Hayward pump, Rheem gas heater, mesh cover. Pool was very dirty/cloudy yesterday but is clearing up nicely and I have 90% of all the leaves, twigs and bugs skimmed out. Have not fired up heater yet. This afternoon while I was skimming again, I noticed an ammonia or dead animal smell. I'm going to get water tested tomorrow at pool store, my test kit was left in shed so it froze and wouldn't read anything. Strips say high chlorine well did just open it and dumped about 6 gal of liquid in, and very low Ph, Alk and Cya. Thoughts?

We need test results from your new test kit when it comes. If we go by strips or stores we could make it worse.
