We just got an above ground pool. Our alkalinity is at 240 and wayer hardness is at 500! We cannot figure out how to get either right. We did add a cup of muriatic acid dilluted in water. It dropped ph level to 7.2. Our pool in a 3300 gallon pool. Please help. We have no clue what to do

I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry.
