Just bought a used Esther Williams 15x30 Carousel

What is this LIFE you talk about??? Is there life outside of the pool? Oh wait that is the front of my property! Just let me tell you I HATE any kind of vines gurrrrr but they are all gone now!

LOL Yeah I can tell the pre-cleaned but it should not take too much to clean the others over time.

The chairs were a great idea to help shore up the sides! LOL on the blocks on the plastic ones....do what ya got to do!

Do you have a time line on the new liner?

The chairs are heavy and stable. They felt hard to move so I thought "why not!" The forecast is hot for the next week and only a couple of chance of storms so hoping my luck holds. They say approx 10 business days. As long as it gets here by the weekend of the 4th the party will have a pool to enjoy providing the water is correct. That will be a busy weekend for me. I shoot that towns fireworks display. My hat goes from pool assembler to display operator. The display is about 2-3 blocks away from the MIL's house location. Lounging in the pool out back gives one a prime viewing spot for the big show!

Chief?? You do fireworks????? What fun!

Casey? Why am I NOT surprised LOL

Chief how about tying/attching the walls to the chair somehow to REALLY keep them up right? Just another safe guard so to say.

Pool setup looking good! I will say when we used the foam cove that it was not close to enough of an angle on the sides. We ended up having to pull the liner back and drain to add more sand. Also the instructions on our skimmer did not say when to cut in but we were told after we cut it in to wait until the pool is almost full. Good luck and looks great!!

Thanks cubbienate! I'll give the cove an eye to see how it will sit. It's the Gladon brand. How did you correct it? Did you make the sand higher around the perimeter by a little bit or led up to the cove with a little more angle? I was planning to not cut the skimmer and return until the water got close to it. Thanks for the tip on cove!

We ended up packing sand over the cove about 6-8 inches. I also took a tamper and packed it all really good.

You can kind of see how much we added in this picture.

Wow! That's quite a bit! What made you decide that the foam cove was not enough? The fit of the liner when in position? The feel of it?
Our liner was stretching real bad. We followed the directions in the install guide but it was not enough sand. The install support guy said the cove should be 6-8 inches, I asked him what it the point of the foam and he kinda laughed... we bought everything online.

Sorry for being MIA. Work is going crazy and the pool work in the evening. The new liner arrived Tuesday. I've been so busy I haven't even opened it yet. Been smoothing the sand. A task I seem poorly suited for. Mudding drywall. Concrete. Pool sand. All things I do poorly at. We started laying the pink foam in late last night. Got 6 of 15 down. Walking on it to position an edge I could feel a few low and then high areas in the sand under the foam. Not terrible but not quite as uniform as I was hoping for. But you can't spend forever on it either. We quit at 11:30 last night. Cool then but real muggy. I was listening to the chatter and cheers from the park a few blocks away as they played ball. It was kinda cool. Them cheering me on......................We're trying to get the bottom in, sidewalls foam, and cove in and then the bead receiver and top clips so late Friday or Saturday morning we can set the liner. Shop vac at the ready! Get water filling so I can plumb it and get the chemicals adjusted. Of course it will take forever to fill. Going to be using 2 hoses. Fingers crossed. I've adjusted my plans slightly. Instead of rushing to get the patio section hung and all 10 blocks buried we're trying to get the pool functional for the 4th party. These pools do and don't have patios so leaving it off a week or so should not be a thing. The coping and top keep it together structurally. Time for the "fun" part of pool ownership instead of the "not so fun" parts. Pictures to follow.......

OH YEAH! You have a GREAT plan! It IS time to enjoy that pool!

My installer spent a some time on the bottom of my pool. It looked purrfect! Once the liner was in and the water added is still looked good. Once we were able to get in we could notice the little ups and downs. THEN with the light on at night LOL not so smooth BUT we are very happy with it.

Hey Cheif think about this idea. This is what my installer did to help hold the side down and bottom down where it belonged.

He filled big trash bags full of water and put them where the walls meet the bottom. He folded the tops over and taped them shut. They really helped keep the liner in place as it filled with water. Once there was enough water they just floated and that was no big deal. We took them out when there was enough to bring them within reach of the side.

Just an idea.

Cool idea Kim. It reminds me of when we remodeled the house for her mom and sis and kids. We had 3-5 weeks and contrary to the fix it up shows on tv it's hard to get it done. I fixed every nail hole and sticky tape mess and painted EVERY wall in EVERY room. I counted 12-14 rooms (counting hallways, utility room, bathrooms, hallways, etc) I have a picture of the microwave clock reading 2:38 am on a work night. point being is this. I resented the house and was tired of living it 24/7. The pool has become the house (sans painting of course). It's past due time to hop in and chill out after working on it and being hot and miserable. We'll get there.

I SO feel ya! It took us 3 MONTHS to get this house move-in-able! Your pool will be worth it in the end! I just hope the liner behaves for you. Maybe a beer before you start working on it might move things along LOL

LOL. No prob a bad idea for me. 28 years sober. Things would get really screwy real fast. At least I wouldn't care! LOL! If the rains they forecast don't amount to anything I'll be good. It's that rain thing again. And the noisy dove. Still. Heck. The rain can help me fill it for all I care! Let me get the liner set 1st though. Since it's supposed to be a cooler weekend (high 80's low 90's). My luck it will fill and the water will stay too cool to swim and we'll all just sit and stare at it!

CONGRATS of the 28 years! AWESOME job!

So it looks like I am getting all of your rain yesterday and today! LOL Oh man I can't mow.........what will I do?? hehe

Here is hoping your rain will wait until you get your liner in! THEN it can rain and help fill the pool faster!

I just found this thread...Our replacement pool (after 3 years) is finally in. Something to keep in mind: Aluminum does NOT play well with stainless. Stainless having more noble elements in it will use the aluminum as a sacrificial element. Hot dipped galvanized is better (but not perfect) as the zinc is more compatible, i.e. next to Aluminum on the chart. It won't dissolve instantly, but over time those bolt holes around the skimmer gasket will deteriorate. The JB Weld might save you there since it might act as an insulator. If you have to drop the level for the winter, that would be the time to replace those bolts.

I'm sorry for the long absence in posting. In the summer I get VERY busy and it non-stop some weeks it seems. I had a nice update all filled with pictures and witty commentary but alas the mean 'ol internet didn't like that I let it sit too long between working on it and said I had to renew my tokens or something like that. With the luck I'd been having I'm surprised all I said was a few off color comments and turned off the site.
Soooooooooooo. Big swim party at the MIL's was a big no bueno.

Try as I might, but I could not overcome this. Now had I been approx 3-4 hours quicker there's all that free pool filling water! We pulled the plug on having a functional pool for the party Saturday after this.

Heck I ran into this just trying to get home! No aa good depiction of how bad it was cooming down the street.

We decided not to let one aspect ruin a perfectly good soiree. So much fun was had. I got to shoot off the towns fireworks show.Mama had friends and family all gathered for truths and lies. No one left angry. I count 10 fingers, 10 toes. Win Win!!

If I'm up at 6 am on the 4th of July there is usually a good reason. One truck and trailer full of good reason.

So a little cheat peek!! It started filling Sunday evening and by mid day Monday I had her shut off the water so I could get the skimmer set in and the return fitting. Tonight (Monday) I set the skimmer and outlet eyeball in place. I shook like a defendant in court taking a knife to my pristine liner wall.

Tomorrow night I'll finish my plumbing and well have pumpage happening. Don't need no stinkin' green pea soup water. More when I have time!!!!!!!!

You did it all! Shoot off the fireworks, made people ooooooooooooo and ahhhhhhhhhhh, kept all of your fingers and toes, put a liner in your pool, cut your liner , AND added water! SWEET!

I love that liner good pick of design!

I am sure you will do a fine job with the plumbing........make sure to use unions and valves (I know you will but had to put that in for others to read).

Thanks for the updates! Next a pic of you floating with a smile on your face--------life is good!
