Test whenever you can... need to try to keep the fc level up so it can keep working on that algae. If possible, add more bleach before work and that'll help the process along
CJ3737 has you on the right path. Just remember it is very important to keep your FC at or slightly above your SLAM (shock) level during the SLAM. Shock level and MAINTAIN! You will be amazed at the results. Your water will be sparkling before you know it. I started last year with a pool for the first time. After I went thru the SLAM process, I now feel like a pool expert. It really is the best way to learn. My pool has been perfect ever since. Stay with it and good luck!
Only lost 3 over night? Awesome!
Yep..back to 12 for now and keep pump running..
Not gonna get clear overnight..
Right now the algae is dying off but it seems you have a ton in there... keep brushing to dislodge the spores and it'll filter out.
Try to skim as much off the bottom too.. the more you get out the better off you'll be.
Crusin man... you'll be full on slamming in no time.
Do what you can do. Try for at least 4 times a day of testing and dosing the FC. It CAN be cleared doing it 4 times a day. It will take longer but it can be done. IF you have time then throw in another test/dose.
It took time to get like this. It will take time and chlorine to clear it.
Make sure to brush it at least once a day. Keep the pump running 24/7.
You don't need to add muratic acid right now. Don't bother testing PH when your FC is 10 or higher as it can lead to a false high reading. This is why we recommend folks adjust PH before starting a SLAM. Your PH was fine when you started the SLAM, so no need to mess with it.
Just assume it that the CYA is at the target level for now. You can test CYA tomorrow to see if you met your target.
Test and add bleach as often as possible. Try to brush at least once a day. You'll get there.
You added 4lb stabilizer, right?
that will get you to about 33 CYa for now. Wont be able to test for that til tomorrow AM or so... don't worry about that right now.
Go ahead and test FC when you can.. If its below 10, test for PH to make sure you are still in the 7.2 range
