Jandy Valves Position

Hello All,

I had some work done on my backyard and the jandy valves were repositioned from the pool companies position (long story there was a hose that got stuck and they pulled and change the valve position). Now, whenever I turn my pool off the spa drains and fills back up when the pool is turned back on. I have tried repositioning them multiple times but I can’t seem to get it right. Does anyone know the positioning they should be in? I’m an extreme novice. 1737905990698.jpeg

Your picture is a bit too low resolution to read all the labels on your pipes, so a higher res picture would help.

Your two automated valves (for pool vs spa mode) do not appear to be in the correct position for either mode. Do these valves move if you flip the little toggle on the bottom side of the controller? In Pool mode I would expect the suction valve (far right in your picture) to have it's handle pointed directly towards the pump and the handle of the return valve (third from the left) to also be aligned with the pipe coming from above in the picture.

If the valves don't move when you switch the toggle between the two extremes there's likely an issue with your automation and the valve controllers are not getting power. If they do move but that is the position they move to, then the cams in the controllers need to be adjusted.

Your suction valve should never be open to the spa, even a little, when the system is in pool mode. Flip the small toggle switch and see if the valve closes the spa port. If it closes the pool, flip it the other way. Right now it is probably in the center position.

It also appears whoever installed the Jandy valves didn't understand the importance of where the word "INLET" on each valve needs to point - or was too lazy to remove the Jandy valve lid to position it correctly. Likely they just cut the stop tab off the bottom of the handles. The way yours are limits how they can be set and also allows the possibility of dead-heading the pump.

What brand and model of automation do you have?

87,

Another issue is that you have also shut off your skimmer....

Look at the pipe that says 'Cleaner'.. The valve just to the right needs to rotate 180 degrees, so that the off tab is pointed to the cleaner label. This will close off the cleaner port and open the skimmer port..

On the Return side, the Automated valve should be either in the Pool position or the Spa position, not half and half.. As pointed out by Poolman, your Automated Intake valve should also be fully in the Pool or Spa position, never in between like it is now.

Who set these valves???

Thanks,

Jim R.
