Jandy Valve Actuator Needs a Nudge...

I have 2 older (circa 2010) JVA2444's.
TBH, I'm guessing they are 2444's since the labels are gone.

The JVA return works flawless, no issues.
The JVA suction works 98% of the time.
The 2% is when I wait a few weeks in between using the spa.
Turning the spa on, the valve will switch correctly.
Spa heats up, we use it, and then we're done.
If immediately try to change it to Pool Mode, or Spa Fill, the suction valve won't move.
No clicking or noise of any kind... it just sits there.
If I unscrew the handle a few turns and push the valve down, it immediately starts to turn the valve.
All will work fine, fully automatic, unless I wait a few weeks to hit the hot tub.

My guesses are:
1) The heat expands the valve to a point where the JVA doesn't have enough torque to "break the seal", OR
2) The heat is expanding something within the JVA that causes the mechanism to not start spinning.

The fact there is no clicking sound makes me tend towards #2.

Any thoughts or tips before I buy a new JVA?

There are orings on the valve shaft. You need to remove the handle, remove the screws holding on the actuator top section, lubricate the area on the actuator that goes over the valve shaft.

I do that about every 6 months.

The JVA has a run capacitor internal to the actuator. These parts overtime fail. I have had to replace them multiple times over the years. The symptoms of a failing capacitor vary from the actuator not moving to valve “pulsing” as it moves.

And my WAG is you have a sticking microswitch that needs that bit of a wiggle to make contact.
