Jandy upgrade for variable speed pump

I've got an older Jandy Aqualink RS8. I'ts connected to an Autelis unit so even though it's old, Ive already got web control. The other day my 2-speed pump motor went out. I want to upgrade to a Pentair Intelliflo VS but it's looking like this is going to be a costly upgrade.

According to Jandy, I need the IQ900-RS upgrade. This is $650! Is there any other option to upgrade the Jandy or is this the only way to go?

Im a little lost now... what is the difference between IQ20-RS and IQ900-RS? Jandy has an upgrade document that says use the IQ900-RS but it may be dated. Is the IQ20-RS newer?
