Jandy Truclear power source question

I am planning on installing a Truclear system on my existing pool. I have a Jandy VSP pump and Aqualink automation. The area where I will be installing the SWG is close to the heater subpanel and it would be a pain (and higher cost) to wire the power pack to the pump circuit breaker.

If I install the RS485 wires from the power pack to my Aqualink, will it send communication to the power pack on when to turn on and off based on the motor’s status? There’s no info in the manual about this.

I would recommend the AquaPure 700 or 1400 depending the size of your pool. The Truclear has been known to have issues and short life span.
The power to the SWCG power unit should be connected to the Filter pump relay on the load side of the relay in the AquaLink box as that is what tells the pump is on or off.
The RS485 allows you to adjust the output percentage on the SWCG using the AquaLink app.
Maybe a photo of your equipment pad and Aqualink box will help understand your setup.
The SWCG power unit should be relatively close to the AquaLink box.

Thank you. I was planning on installing the SWCG on the length of pipe to the right of the in-line chlorinator and powering it from the heater subpanel to the right of that. I was going to increase the height of the pipes holding that subpanel and install the SWCG power unit above it. But if the communication port only involves adjusting the % of chlorination and based on the fact that the Truclear does not have a flow switch, I believe I will have to bite the bullet and run power from the Aqualink box (all the way to the left in the pic).
Unfortunately I got some advice from reddit recommending Truclear and have already purchased the unit from eBay.

@HermanTX based on the unreliability of the Truclear, and the fact that I bought the “new build” version rather than retrofit, can you advise on the best way to install it? Should I remove the in line chlorinator and use the unions to install it there in case I need to swap out the unit? I could add male threaded adapters to each side of the Truclear.

Yes. Remove the inline Chlorinator. You should always use unions to install a SWCG to help facilitate removal for cleaning, repair or replacement. Even though the TruClear can be serviced by removing the top - union connections helps facilitate installation and any changes in the future.
