Is the motor getting hot?

It might be a thermal overload.

Does the motor restart on its own after a few minutes?

Check the voltage and current as the motor starts and as it runs.

Jandy now makes a variable speed version, which would probably be a good choice.
 
A Jandy ePump 2.7 would be a direct fit (plumbing and all) for a Stealth 2.0, but I don't know how happily that would play with the Hayward automation.

According to the pump serial number and the motor serial number, it was made in 2009, which makes it 14 years old.

The motor was made on March 09 2009 Monday.

The pump was made in April of 2009.

For Century motors, the first three digits indicate the day of the year the motor was manufactured.

The next two digits indicate year the motor was manufactured.

Example 20418CH = The 204th day of 2018 or July 23, 2018

Contact the motor manufacturer and the pump manufacturer if you don't believe me.

It’s not condescending to talk about the age of the pump.

When doing equipment diagnostics, one of the most important things to know is the age of the equipment.

You are saying 4 years when the serial numbers indicate 14 years, so that is a huge discrepancy.

Maybe the pump was installed 4 years ago and maybe they told you it was new and maybe it was New Old Stock that they had available.

My observation is that about 50% of the time when people tell you how old their equipment is they significantly underreport the actual age.

Sometimes this is intentional and sometimes it is unintentional.

Can you show the invoice for when the pump was installed?
 
Maybe they installed a used pump and you didn’t even notice.

Maybe they slipped one by you.

Don’t feel bad, it happens.

You have a busy, hectic life and you can’t notice everything.

For example, last week, I sent my butler Jeeves out for caviar and he knows that he is to only get the good caviar, but he goes to Costco and gets a 5-gallon bucket of their caviar.

I mean, come on, Costco, yuck, it was all bland and nasty and he thought I wouldn’t even notice like I am some idiot.

Anyway, it just goes to show that you have to pay attention to everything or people will try to slip one by you.

They tell you that it is done, you trust them and you assume that everything is 100% correct when it isn’t.

In any case, you can go to a variable speed pump now and move on with your life.

Get a pump that is compatible with your automation.

Check your software version to make sure that is compatible with the new pump.
