Jandy RS4 - dead-ish?

Hello all,

I have a strange problem. I have a Jandy RS4 with iAqualink 2.0. When I attempt the turn the pump on from the IAqualink app OR from the panel in service mode, I can hear the board click like its trying to turn the pump on, but nothing will happen unless I go to the breaker and flip it off/on. I then can turn the pump on from the app/panel. Then the very next time I turn the pump off manually, it all starts over - the breaker will need to be flipped again for the app/service panel to function. The maybe weirder part is the automated schedule runs fine without having to flip the breaker on/off as long as I do not interact with the app/service panel at all. For instance, I turned my pool light on/off yesterday evening manually via the app, and the schedule did not start this morning.

Any idea what this problem could be? The person who installed it was pretty new at his trade at the time, and to his credit everything was working fine until a few weeks ago, but long explanation short, my confidence is shaken with them for other service screw ups.

Are you sure you're waiting long enough for it to start? Sometimes mine takes close to 3 minutes or so to start.

Which pump, brand model Is it a VSP? Is the breaker actually tripped each time you turn it off and on? The click is the Jandy relay trying to send power to the pump. If there is no power (tripped beaker) the pump won't do anything until the breaker is reset. If it is a VSP it should NOT be powered by a relay, have constant power, and be connected to the system by a communication cable, if it is one that can communicate with a Jandy system. You may hear the relay click in that case, but it is not controlling the pump. Need more info.

Jandy FloPro 2.7, yes, VSP. The breaker isn't being tripped at all. I need to manually trip the breaker and reset it for the service panel or app to regain control, but power is to the service panel the entire time, lights on, relays clicking, etc.

See picture attached. I may have answered my own question here, i'm willing to bet those 120V hot wires should be on the filter pump relay and not an auxiliary relay? What i'm confused about is how its worked fine (2+ years) up until a few weeks ago if this is indeed wired incorrectly.

Thank you for the reply!

Looks to be wired correctly. The 120V wires are for the light and if put on the #1 relay would light up the light as long as the pump runs. That relay will engage when the system calls for the pump to run even though it is controlling nothing, so you hear it "click."
Is it the pump breaker you are having to reset or turn off and on? If so the problem is in the pump not the RS4. They are separate computers with the RS4 just telling the pump's computer what to do.
The next time the problem happens, with a meter check for 240V at the breaker terminals and then at the pump terminals. If it is there, the drive on the pump has an issue.
Turning the breaker off and on is the same as we used to have to do with home computers, "If all else fails, reboot by unplugging and plugging it back in." Each time you power the pump off (should wait about 5 minutes) then on you "reboot" its internal computer.
