So the weird part is, I'm getting this error, but it runs for 3 min, then faults and shuts off for 1 min, then fires back up. Everything I've read I think says it should never fire up if the limit sensors are dead?

The incoming water was 82, setpoint was 85. Nothing crazy. Filters are pretty clean, plenty of flow through the jets. Happens with the pump at 2700 and 3200RPM. Didn't seem to happen when the incoming water was at 77 degrees. Could it be the limit switches?

Welcome to TFP.

What model heater do you have?

Sounds like your Hi Limit switches are working just fine.

How old is the heater?

Post pics of the heater and your equipment pad.

Does your JXI heater have the VersaFlo bypass installed?

When did you last clean the cartridges?

Remove the cartridges and run the system and see if the heater still starts and stops.

Do you have TriChlor tablets in the Fusion system?

Do you have the mineral cartridge in the Fusion system?

Show me a pic of the equipment looking from the left side of the pad.

Cleaned them about a month ago. We haven't gotten a lot of fluffs, crud, leaves, etc... I can't imagine they're very dirty. Plus I'm getting lots of flow out of jets.

I think the tablets are pretty much gone right now. Added some ~2 weeks ago.

The mineral cart is in there but is 8 years old. It's in there simply to plug the hole... I don't have a cap.

Working on the other stuff. Thank you all!

From the manual:
FAULTHIGH LIMIT 1. Water temperature in heater exceeds the internal limit.

The limit switch is doing its job, shutting the heater off when dangerous internal temperatures are sensed.

Usually a water-flow issue. Your filter may be too dirty, the pump RPM may be too slow.
Or the internal bypass may have broken. The bypass valve is relatively easy to access through a panel in the side of the manifold. Relatively inexpensive part as well.

Algae can clog your filter in a few weeks.

How are you chlorinating your pool?

You do not have a check valve between the Fusion and the heater. Acidic water from the tablets will backflow into the heater and destroy it over time. That could have damaged your internal bypass valve.

Unreal. I did a quick hose off of the filters and now the heater works. WTF. The filters were barely dirty. Im wondering if draining the system from cleaning the filters and shooting a bunch of air through it when it primed back up dislodged some contaminants or something because those filters were clean!!

:goodjob:

Filters can clog with algae that is not visible.

You should do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

They may look clean, but. . . Three-year-old cartridges could be due for a good overnight soaking in a commercial cartridge cleaning solution. NEVER acid wash them unless that is done first, regardless of what you might hear or read.
You can also use a solution of real TSP (Tri-Sodium-Phosphate) or even dishwasher detergent. There are all kinds of recommendations about using them, but the amount needed for cartridges your size while soaking completely covered in a large, clean, plastic trash can, makes commercial products easier to use.

What commercial product? The last time I did them was with tsp then in some sort of acid concentrate from the paint department. There's an all in one or something? My can is too short for them so I had to flip them upside down and soak again. X2 sets of cartridges. So it took like 2 weeks! 🤣🤣

Not sure what available in the Canadian market. Biodex and Filbur both make a good product.

I work in Detroit so I have access to both markets 😁.

Are these 2 brands/products a 1 and done? Or should I do something else after?

- Can I do 2 sets of cartridges?
- Is the solution stable enough to last, say, a week outside? I( have 2 sets of cartridges and they don't fully submerge in my bucket. So I have to flip them to do the other side .)
- can one batch of solution do 2 sets? Or does it get all narce and have to be poured out and refilled?

sorry for all the questions! I just think I remembering these commercial kits are expensive?
