Jandy LXi CHECK IGN CONTROL fault

Well, Occam's Razor for the win. There was a previously unknown gas valve way over by the gas meter that somehow got turned off at some point in the last 5 months. I've put everything back the way it was including the original Fenwal and it fired right up!

Thanks to @ajw22 @setsailsoon @swamprat69 for the guidance. I certainly know a lot more than I did a few days ago about the heater and effective troubleshooting.

I hope this thread helps someone else in the future.

I fixed it!!

I was having the exact same issue with the sequence completing and successful ignition(smelled gas) and felt the heat off the exhaust. The burn would last 3 -5 seconds and the gas valve would shut off. The sequence repeated three times and go into "FAULT - CHECK IGN CONTROL" and shut down. I cut the power and pulled the "flame sense rod" out from the bottom air plenum and noticed a white haze covering the end of the rod. I sandpapered it with 120 grit back down to metal (no white haze) and wiped it with a damp rag.

Put it back together and the heater runs great now!!
