hey all,
so my pool has a jandy watercolors large led light. (Zodiac CPHVLEDS50 WaterColors 120-Volt LED Pool and Spa Light with Stainless Steel Face)
has been in the pool for 6 years, and had been going out....and finally did burn out entirely this year, so decided to replace it.
the pool company wanted $1500 to replace it.
i ordered it on amazon for $620 and watched a youtube on replacing.
No issues replacing the light at all. fished old one out, ran cable with the old cord, pulled new light cable through. rewired exactly the same as before.
put new light into niche and screwed into place.
this took all of maybe 45 minutes.
but now, when i throw the switch for the light, the gfi pops. no light at all obviously. happens every time. i tried shutting all other powered things on the gfi off, but it still trips it. rechecked wiring and everything is correct and solid.
think this is a bad light?? or perhaos my switch has gone bad??
appreciate any feedback.
thanks

GFCI breakers can get weak. Not sure of the cost but would be easier to replace the breaker than go through the hassle of a new light.

Otherwise there must be a fault in the new light or water penetrated the cord/light somehow.

Have you called the light manufacturer for their input?

Take care.

Thanks!
Yeah, i talked with light manufacturer. Ultimately had my electrician come out and check the GFCI. Apparently, there was some "backward" wiring that was done by the pool co on the original install. so i had connected the wires incorrectly (though typically white to red and black to black and green to green is correct, in this case it should've been black to red and white to black....huh??). lol. Anyway, from now on i'll just take a picture of any wiring prior to changing something. but the light is all good now.
