Jandy JEP-R freeze protect not working?

I don’t believe my controller freeze protect is working. The last two mornings have been 35 degrees or lower and the pump is not running. I have it set to run 2:00 hours. Please advise.
I assume that when the air temp reaches 38 degrees, the freeze protection turns on and then runs for 2 hours, then shuts off. Is it then supposed to read the air temperature and continue to run/ turn back on if it’s still at or below 38?
Where is the sensor located?

Thanks in advance

Was it set up by the service tech who installed the pump? If not, follow these steps to activate it.
4.7 Pump Freeze Protect Operation
When enabled to do so, the controller monitors the
temperature inside the pump and will activate the
variable-speed pump at the eStar speed when the
temperature approaches freezing. The run duration of
the pump freeze protect operation is adjustable from 30
minutes to 8 hours, or may be disabled completely.
To set the pump freeze protect operation, from the
service setup menu select PUMP FREEZE PROTECT.
Press MENU. Using the arrow keys, set the duration to
the desired value. To disable pump freeze protect, set the
duration to 0:00. Press MENU to accept and store.

The weather report saying temperature hit 35F for an hour or two does not mean the sensor inside the pump in your location got to the trigger point.

Check your settings in the pump and then watch what it does when the air temp drops below 32F for an extended period of time. You are not at risk for freezing damage for many hours. Read...

Thank you, I verified myself that it is set to 2:00 hours.

Appreciate the insight and that makes sense. Is there a way to test it?
How does one decide on how long it runs? I assume 2 hours is sufficient, but I'm still not sure how it operates after the time has ended.

No way to test it.

Freeze protection sensor in the pump is there to protect the pump from water freezing in it and can not be relied on to protect the rest of your pool.

Running the pump generates heat from the motor. So your pump will warm it self up but the rest of your pool pipes can be cold and freeze. The freeze run time duration is to warm up the pump and does not make sense for protecting the entire pool system from freezing. Automation systems turn freeze protection on and off based on the air temperature it senses. Your JEP-R system is doing something different.
