Hello all!

My Jandy heat pump's fan won't spin and it certainly isn't hearing the water. A pool guy came to diagnose and told me that the controller (Jandy R-3008800) was bad and needed replacing. He quoted me $1000 for parts and labor to do it.

I see online the part is available for around $450. It looks like a very simple install of connecting four wires. This is certainly within the scope of my abilities.

Would I be wrong to do this myself and save money? What could I be missing? (Assuming his diagnosis is correct and it's not a bad capacitor, compressor, etc.)

Many, many thanks!

If the pool guy diagnosis is correct then you win the bet and are ahead $500.

If the pool guy is wrong you are out $500 and have more to spend to fix it.

If you hire him for $1,000 and the controller does not fix your HP then he eats it,

How often do you hit the casinos?
