Jandy Aquapure Trisensor - Water Damage??

We just had our Jandy Aquapure system set up last week and started getting a general fault error on Sunday afternoon related to the sensor. The PB came out and said the sensor was shot since it was full of water. We are working on having our irrigation system repaired after our build and have a head near the controls, but not aimed directly at it. Even still, are these sensors not waterproof at all? I'm not sure how it's an exposed element of the system if it's not waterproof. Does anyone know if these are waterproof? Thanks!

I would have liked to be shown what was “full with water”.

The Trisensor is submersed in water in the cell. It has little other area to be filled with water.

Unless he was talking about the control box.

Either it was installed wrong or it was defective. Let Jandy warranty handle it.

He was talking about the control box I guess, the corded part that attaches into the panel. They replaced it without any hassle but my concern is the longevity of these if a single 30 minute sprinkler cycle destroyed it.

Put some plastic box over it if the sprinkler is spraying on it.

It should be weather proof. There is a difference between weather proof and water proof.

Yeah. Confusing. Iirc, there are random posts by owners saying their boxes ("interface modules") were damaged by water. They could see clouding through the indicator light ports.

But the installation manual shows it hanging below the Aqualink box, and at least one Jandy supplier says "The Sensor Interface Module is weatherproof and should be left outside of the power center enclosure." It sure looks like it's meant to be weatherproof.

I'd say water intrusion is definitely a warranty item.

nb: I replaced mine ~2.8 years ago and have it hanging as per manual. The AL box is mounted on an external wall of the house so gets some shielding from weather, but definitely does not stay dry. So far no problem. Knock on wood....
