Jandy actuator problem

We have a Jandy Aquapur RS system for pool and spa. During our Austin freeze we managed to not loose any pipes when the power went out and killed our freeze mode protection but both actuators had stopped working. On the first we had to replace the valve diverter and then it worked fine. On the second, on the suction side, we replaced the actuator. It works fine on toggle but not from the panel. Is something gone in the panel? Suggestions please.

Confirm that you have a Jandy Aqualink system.

If the toggle on the actuator moves the valve it shows the actuator is getting 24V AC from the panel.

Verify the JVA on the suction plumbing is connected to the Intake JVA Socket,

Post pics of the low voltage wiring and JVA sockets of your Aqualink.

Hi Allen. Thank you for your response. I have posted some pictures below of my Jandy Aqualink system. There is power to both actuators but only the second slot, the output side works from the panel button. We sprayed some contact cleaner and did a reset but nothing on the intake side. Does that mean I need a new panel?

Swap the connectors in the Intake and Return sockets and see if the problem valve stays on the suction actuator or moves to the return actuator.

Are you trying to operate the valve using the SPA DRAIN function on the right hand most button on the panel?

I did that. The actuator on the intake, spot one, still does not work while the other one does. I called Jandy and the tec said he doubted it was the board since power went to the actuator and everything works but the actuator plugged into the intake slot. He thought it was programming and they will only talk a licensed pool person through it, not a home/pool owner.

Yes. We were operating the valve by the end spa controls.

I agree with the Jandy tech that if you get 24V AC to the actuator it probably is not the board.

Confirm you have the toggle switch on the actuator on the 1 or 2 position and not on OFF.

Do you have a multimeter?

The actuator wire is a 3 conductor wire:

• Black - Common
• Red - Switch Leg
• White - Switch Leg

Voltage should switch from the black/red to the black/white when the socket wants to rotate the valve.

To see if the board is working properly you need to poke around the voltage as the valve tries to rotate. You need to do that without shorting out the connection. Do that at your own risk only if you are comfortable working around electricity.

Otherwise it may be time for you to call in a local Jandy tech.

Thanks Allen. My husband is comfortable with electrical work and he was sure the contacts etc were good. He sprayed in some cleaner. The Jandy tech thought it was programming. Any place I can get a video on reprogramming? Right now in Austin you can’t get a pool tech unless you offer your first born. The freeze damaged a lot of pool pipes. Since snow is so rare here I picked it as my picture.

I reviewed it and don't see anything in the setup that would disable the actuator.
