Jandi JXI Not Getting to Temp

Have a Jandy JX pool/spa heater that does not get to temperature. If I set the spa to 104 the water gets to low 90s. Water flow seems good, the heater fires without a problem and I replaced the temperature sensor. It seems like a calibration issue, however, when I go into the calibration settings in the Web app it only lets me move the temperature a few degrees. Not sure what to do at this point. Everything else seems to be working properly. Please let me know if you have any thoughts. As always, you’re helping feedback is greatly appreciated.

You’re absolutely right. When I go into the web interface to calibrate the temperature it shows Pool Temp 91, and says NA for Spa, like my Spa is offline. I will look at the link you sent me. Thanks!

I looked at the manual and cannot find anything obvious. I did a little testing this morning so I have a better handle what’s happening.

Issue 1: Spa out of calibration with iAqualink and JXI Heater. Turn spa mode and heater on from iAqualink. Everyting looks fine on iAqualink app screen. Spa heats as normal but stops at 97/98 degrees (read with an instant-read thermometer). iAquaLink thinks the temperature is 104, so there is a 6 degree discrepancy. If I turn the JXI back on manually after it stops at 97/98 degrees, it will continue to heat until its display reaches 104 degrees. At this point the actual spa temp is 108 degrees (per instant-read thermo). So, I have some sort of calibration issue between iAqualink, the JXI and the spa.

Issue 2: I do not have the ability to calibrate the Spa temperature in the iAqualink web interface. When I log in and navigate to the calibration screen, it give me the ability to calibrate the pool temp but the spa control box says N/A instead of reading a temp, and I cannot switch between the two (See image). I’m not sure if this is a new issue because I have never calibrated the temp for either the pool or spa. However, the spa has always heated to 104 with not issue.

Any thoughts? Could the Thermal Regulator Valve play a role here? I don’t think so but figured I’d ask.

You only have one temperature sensor in your plumbing for your pool/spa that is connected to the Aqualink. The calibration will apply to that sensor whether you are in POOL mode or SPA mode.

You can try and reduce the temperature sensor by 6 degrees to get it to read 98 when the spa is 98. If that does not work you should replace the temperature sensor and zero out the calibration and see what you get.

OK, thank you for the clarification on the temp sensor. That makes perfect sense.

The first thing I did when this problem cropped up was replace the temperature sensor. It didn’t change anything. At this point I think the issue is somewhere in iAqualink. I need to do a bit more testing when it cools off tonight, but I believe the temperature readion on the LXI heater display is accurate. I just went outside and it shows the water temp at 96 degrees. IAqualink says its 105. the calibration in the web UI is cranked all the way down and it still off by 8 to10 degrees. Do you know if there is a different calibration option than the one on the web UI? I will dig into the iAqualink manual to see what I can find. Appreciate your help!

Aqualink has 2 temp probes. One is for air temp and one for water temp. The air temp one is only needed for freeze protection. The heater also has its own probe.

Replacing the temp probe in Aqualink is fairly easy. For a test you could just swap the 2 Aqualink probes.

Connect a 10K resistor to the Aqualink board in place of the water temperature sensor.

If the Aqualink says the water is 76F then the problem is with the temperature sensor.

If the Aqualink says the water is another temperature after zeroing the temperature calibration then the problem is with the board.

Just thinking…. Does the heater have a separate temperature sensor internally? As far as I can tell the heater is displaying the correct info. It’s only iAqualink that is off by 8 degrees after I calibrate it to its lowest setting.

I Just figured it out. I did not realize that iAqualink had a different temperature sensor that the JXI heater. Just ordered the iAqualink sensor and feel confident that it will resolve the issue. Thanks for your help.
