Has anyone purchased a Jacuzzi J-VSP250 variable speed pool pump from Leslie's pools, lately? I found an old thread on this forum from about a year ago, but wanted to see if anyone else had recently purchased this pump. I got a quote for $1600 with installation. It's about twice as much as we expected and we were told variable speed pumps are now mandatory if newly installed in California. I haven't been able to find reviews, anywhere. The good news is that there's still a 5-year warranty. Just want to be sure that I'm not only getting my moneys' worth but also that I'm not getting something that's too big and unnecessary.

Cat,

I have a weak bladder and would walk past a Leslie's before even using their bathroom...

I know nothing about Jacuzzi pumps, but they do not appear to be used by many of our members..

You cannot buy a VS pump that is too big.. They really are variable horsepower pumps and you just use the horse power (speed) that you need.

The bigger the pump, the more water it can move at a lower RPM, make it slightly more efficient..

Thanks,

Jim R.

There are many VS pumps out there, for much less than $1600. Though to save the most you must DIY install.
I suggest you read ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry and consider reviewing the entire Pool School eBook.
