Issue with control panel when adding salt. Totally new to pool owning

Hey folks,

I just moved into a house with a salt water pool and a Pentair system. The salt is measuring at 2400 (vs 3600 recommended). I bought salt and the instructions I was given when adding was to 1. turn the SWG off and 2. keep the pumps running for 24 hours

I put the easytouch into service mode, but when I do so, I can't get the pump to run from the panel. I attempted to resolve this from the variable speed pump, but I see the code "SER 0" (possibly short for service?).

Does anyone have any insight? Thank you!

Welcome to TFP.

Lower the chlorination % to 0 to turn off the SWG with an EasyTouch system and otherwise let the system run normally in AUTO mode.

mv,

When you go into the Service mode, the EasyTouch not longer controls the pump...

As Allen suggests, just set the cell's output to zero..

Just to make sure you are aware of what is normal... When in the Service mode all the lights on the cell should shut off.. If not, your cell is not wired correctly. When you go back to AUTO the cell reboots and will have flashing salt lights for about 5 minutes.. This is when the cell is testing the salt level.. Since you just added salt, it will not see if for a day or so..

In general you should not add salt just because the cell 'thinks' it is low.. You need to have the ability to test the Actual salt level, vs. the Reported salt level from the cell.. Just to make sure the Reported salt level is somewhat close to the Actual salt level.. I suggest the Taylor K-1766 and a speed-stir device.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you! I was having a bit of trouble lowering the chlorination to 0% while in auto mode. I think what did the trick was setting it to 0% on the easytouch, restarting auto mode, then turning it down on intellichlor

The lights are shutting off when I'm in service mode. However, when I turned on filter/pump in service mode, the lights on the cell turned back on (but no pumping as you alluded)

Thank you for the suggestion. The cell indicated 2600 and I took it into a local store and they measured 2400 and sold me some salt. I recognize TFPs position is to measure yourself, so I will order testing kits!

SWG % adjustments should all be done through the EasyTouch panel.

The Intellichlor cell controls will not work when in AUTO mode.

In SERVICE mode the IntelliChlor should be powered down.

I adjusted the SWG percentage to 0% from the easytouch, but the intellichlor lights still showed 40% (in auto mode). I am not sure if the lights on the Intellichlor are accurate though

i was able to “adjust” the intellichlor output to 0% on the intellichlor itself, but only after I set it to 0% on the easytouch

Your EasyTouch is not properly communicating with the cell.
