Issue controlling PH

Since joining this great site about a month ago, I've learned a ton and have been working and testing diligently to keep a balanced pool. My water appears to be pretty balanced, but the PH rises quicker than I would like. I need at least a gallon of muiratic acid per week (sometimes 2 gallons) to keep my PH at target of 7.4. It's like my pool is happy at 7.8 and doesn't go much higher but it's a chore to keep it at 7.4.

Current test from today:

PH 7.2 (just added acid)
FC 10.0
CC 0.0
CH 150
TA 80
CYA 40

Maybe I don't have a problem and a gallon per week of acid is normal...thoughts?

Would borates help?

There is no problem witha pH at or below 7.8. No need to push it to 7.4. Each pool is different and you might get the pH to ride a little lower with a lower TA.

My pool does the same thing. The pH lives at 7.8. I add 1/2 jug of acid every few weeks if it seems to creep higher, but for some reason it just settles at 7.8.

Makes sense. I'm going to stop trying for 7.4 and allow it to stay closer to 7.8. Should save me some $$.
