Is too much conditioner my issue?

22k gallon saltwater pool. Pebbletech
TA 80
pH 7.5
CYA 70-80
Free Chlorine. 7
Boric acid 55 ppm

Reflecting on this pool season. Got yellow algea blooms on the wall all summer. Would brush and my SWG could not keep up. Thought it was broken, but it's putting out more than enough at only 20 percent output right now. Never had this problem until last 3 years

3 years ago I raised my CYA to 70 based on reading that it should be higher for salt pools. Used to be at 50. Could the reason be thst there is too much CYA which requires higher constant chlorine levels that are hard to maintain? It's also hard to keep TA above 60 ... It like to settle here.

Again, this is the only thing I have changed.

Higher levels aren't hard to maintain. I've been double digits all season.

You're overcomplicaging it. You missed an SWG adjustment, the FC dipped too low for your CYA and you got algae. It's literally that simple.

Once you have algae, only a full SLAM Process (to a T) will get rid of it. Shortcuts lead to repeat battles.

SWG could not keep up.

Most SWGs cannot overcome exponentially growing algae on the pools they are intalled on. You would need a honking unit on a tiny pool capable of producing teens of FC a day.

It's also hard to keep TA above 60 ... It like to settle here.

60 is GREAT and helps keep the PH more stable.

If you have algae, then the problem is not enough FC...

If your SWCG can't maintain the FC level that you need, that in itself, is an indication to algae.

Any TA of 50 or more is ok as long as your pH stays in the 7's..
