Is this the right XPS foam?

I’m going a little crazy trying to figure out if this is the right type of extruded polystyrene foam. It seems correct based on all the research I found here but when I press into it it leaves finger print dimples...That doesn’t seem right.

This one came from Home Depot and it’s more like a violet than a pink. Am I crazy?

That's the 20psi XPS yes. They do have denser products available but with much higher cost. Stay away from EPS which is expanded and far less dense.

This wont leave heel dents once kids start jumping around? Seems odd because my fingers can dent it. It doesn't rebound. Maybe im just pushing it past 20psi.

Personally if you have the option to go thicker than .5in I would. Not saying you cant make an impression in it if you try but the surface area of a heel vs a finger are a bit different. Plus the cushion of the liner. There are denser options available but as I said cost becomes a factor as they are more commercial and harder to find at retail level.

Thank you! I’ll stick with it for the season and maybe add more next year.

Don’t forget in water you aren’t as heavy (well technically you are buoyant) and so won’t put as much pressure as out of water.
I was worried when I got my foam and same thing, could put a dent in with my thumb. But then I did some calcs and realised how much pressure I could likely exert with my thumb and how small an area it was (and thus high psi).
