Is this normal?

Gunite pool recently completed (3 months ago) with a scupper system that creates waterfalls. I recently noticed these crack lines with mineral-like buildup on the back of the wall where each of the scuppers are.
Is this any cause for concern or is this typical since there’s no plaster inside those scupper wells?

Most gunite pools are buried and you never see issues on the outer walls.

Gunite will wick water from the ground and produce Efflorescence - Further Reading There can also be small cracks in grout lines letting water after into the gunite.

I would not get overly concerned unless the pool loses an exceptional amount of water or shows cracks on the inside.

I think many gunite pools have these unseen issues and are fine.
