Replaced sand with glass media 1 week ago. Backwashed until clear.

I’ve been following TFP since last summer (only 1 year of owning pool so far so still newbie). Last year, I think we had mustard algae and it took me a long time to clear. This year, started out ok, but our pool took on a kind of light green/aqua look a few years ago. Thought I cleared that up, only for this to keep happening.

My CYA is at 40, so I initially started slam at FC 16 on July 2. Still lots of dust everyday. I increased to 24 a few days, but every morning it is still there. Just increased up to 30 2 days and this morning (after vacuuming with Hayward Wanda the whale throughly), there’s still a bit of dust when I wake up. Is this normal??

I’ve tested all my other levels before starting and they’re good.

Last night I set FC to 30, and this morning at 9:30 it was at 24. Our pool doesn’t get morning sun.

Ok sorry if this is all over the place, but I’m not sure why this stuff isn’t going away. I’ve also followed everything else in mustard protocol (sanitizing pool thing, swimsuits, etc).

Welcome to TFP!!!

How often are you checking and replacing FC during the day? It's not about having high levels, it is about MAINTAINING Slam level FC. You you are checking 2-3x per day, that may not get it.

Try this weekend to check and replace FC every couple hours. Your FC target is 16 for CYA 40.

3x won't get it. Since the weekend is coming, do it every 2 hours, morning until bedtime. You are also fighting the heat of the summer consuming FC.

Bet you make progress!
