Is this concerning?

This meter was running at about 70 since our pool opening. After leaving the cover open today to add chemicals, it went down a lot. I cleaned skimmer baskets. Any thoughts why this gage would go down?

W,

If we are guessing, I'm voting for the filter getting dirty, the flow going down, and the filter pressure going up.

But it would a better guess if we had a clue what equipment you have... what speed you are running, what mode the system is in, etc.

Thanks,

Jim R.

W,

What do you mean "recently?"

What size and type of filter and what is the current pressure?

Flow through a system is based on several things

How clean the filter is.
The Speed the pump is running.
Valve positions.
Return eyeball sizes
etc..

Why do you care what the GPM gauge says? In the big picture, the question is what is not working the way you want?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Well, I have never owned a pool. So I am still trying to learn all the things. The pool company opened the pool last Thursday. They set everything so I guess I am sort of at their mercy as far as what things are set at at the moment. They are hard to get a hold of. Our water is very cloudy etc.. so we are working on fixing that. I mainly just don’t want to break anything at this point.😂 I guess everything seems okay so I guess I shouldn’t fuss about the GPM gage. I will just keep an eye on the pressure for backwashing and keep filters clean. 🤷‍♀️

W,

I understand completely..

Cloudy water can clog a DE filter in a matter of a few hours.

After you backwash the filter, I "assume" you are reloading the DE via the skimmer? I ask just to make sure, as you are new at this.

Thanks,

Jim R.
