Is this a design flaw on heater or did I do something incorrectly?

Hi. I have a Hayward H135ID gas heater with single speed pump. I’ve had this set up now for five years. Everything has been fine u tip this opening year and heater would not fire and kept getting LO code which can be a few things according to manual. The heater was installed below the height of the pool water and based on the instructions that could affect head pressure and it’s recommended to try and adjust water pressure valve. I did this according to manual to increase pressure at the valve but when you do this and turn the valve 1/4 turn clockwise it makes the connectors stick out and prevents the cover from going back on correctly. Anyone encounter this before? I find this a bit odd that this would be overlooked. Any ideas? Thank you. IMG_0025.jpegIMG_0026.jpeg

Welcome to TFP.

You should be turning the adjustment knob on the inside of the switch, not the entire switch with the connectors.

LO means limit open.

It is not necessarily the pressure switch.

The heater was installed below the height of the pool water
How much below.

Below will make it Close too early, not too late.

Test each limit to find which one is open.

Probably the the exhaust gas limit switch if it is firing with No Flow.

It wasn’t firing at all. Turning it like I did seemed to fix the issue. It is working now. It sounds like I did not turn the knob correctly though but it all seems to turn in one piece. I will tinker a bit more with it.

Turning the WPS may have dislodged debris blocking the orifice.

This is the adjustment knob.

Thanks. So on further inspection of the equipment I am seeing that the adjustment knob/dial are quite worn away. It looks like perhaps some salt build up over the years has done this and the knob basically disintegrated in my hand when I tried to turn it. The metal inside one of the connectors also disintegrated and fell out of the plastic housing. So looks like I’ll need to order some parts to get back up and running now. Thanks for the assistance.
