Is there a simple way to close?

I have an above ground 15 x 30 oval pool with a cartridge pump and heater. This is our first year closing the pool. From what I read I thought I need to drain the pool below the skimmer then take all of the hoses off, remove the pump and the Filter and bring all of those things into the basement. Does this sound correct?
