is there a problem with my pump? << low temps in Alabama >>

Guys,

Here in alabama the temperature got down to about 12-14 last night and I woke up to this noise coming from my pump. It won't get above 24 today or tomorrow. Is this noise a problem? Any ideas what it is or how to make the noise stop. The pump is 1.5 years old.

Has there been a pressure change? Is the suction still good?

Low temps should not effect the pump itself if it has been running.

You do not indicate what type of pump it is in your signature. If you can, change its speed to see if the noise changes.

it's a Sta-Rite variable speed pump. I've changed the speed both up and down and the noise persists, and pitch of it shifts somewhat (higher pitch at higher speed)

update: I found some small-ish leaves in my strainer basket. Once I removed them, the noise went back to the normal levels. Thanks for trying to help.

Good to hear. Very important to check/clean the pump strainer basket each week.

A few leaves in the pump basket won't make it sound weird. Maybe the bearings are failing.
