Is the pump dead for good?

We have had an Hayward SP33152B 2-Speed pump for our above ground pool for the past 10 years. We openend the pool last week and the pump started without any issues. Unfortunately, this morning, my husband tried to put it on Low, so he moved it from High to Off, and then to Low but the pump never started on Low. Now it wont run neither on High or Low. It does not make any noise, any humming of any sort. The electicity is getting to the pump. The main shaft turns very easily by hand. My husband cleaned the contacts.

Any suggestions of what the issue could be? Or should we start shopping for a new pump?

That pump looks to be a hybrid of a Max-Flo and a through-bolt pump. It is no longer in a current Hayward catalog that I could find. Not knowing what motor it is, and knowing that those motors usually cost nearly as much as the pump they are on, it would make more sense economically to look for a new pump. Is it operating on 240V?

That pump works on 110V. Here are a few pictures.

Any additional suggestions?
I have never seen that motor in the field, never heard of it until your post. It appears to have been designed for the above-ground pool market, and/or for the Canadian market (the motor is listed on a Canadian Pool Store).

There is a diagram on one of my suppliers sites, that's how I almost recognize the motor.
On closer look, it very much looks like a Hayward Super 2 pump with a modified motor mounting plate.

If you look at the back of the motor (bottom picture), you will see 4 bolts (look just to the right of the ground wire). Those bolts are very thin and extend through the entire length of the motor and into the mounting plate of the pump body, hence a "through-bolt" motor.

There is a Canadian pool store (Hayward - SPX1514Z2TFS - Motor 1.5Hp 2speed 60cyc Single Phase | Pool Supplies Canada) that says they can special order it (not likely able to get it) for $487.99.

The motor itself looks to be a special one as well, not a normal through-bolt, but one with the large shaft of a standard motor. The impeller is the same as used on a Hayward Super 2 pump as are many of the internal parts. You could get the mounting plate for a Super 2 and the appropriate bolts and install a regular pool motor that matches the impeller of your existing pump (single-speed motor). The existing sealplate should work.

Bottom line is that you would be better off obtaining a VSP like a Waterway PD140 which can operate on 120V. Or, since your plumbing looks easy, just Google "2-speed above ground pool pump" and the choices are many.

Just for the fun of it, here is the price I can get the Waterway PD140 on Amazon.ca!

How much is it selling for in the US?

Thanks for your help, we will be shopping for a new pump but not the Waterway PD140!
That's outrageous! Someone will be getting rich, but not from you. They are $700 - $900 down here.
