Is TA linear when trying to reduce using the acid/aeration method?

My well water has very high TA, and I'm just starting the process to reduce it to a more reasonable level, adding 20 baume muriatic acid to get pH to ~7.2 then aerating to pH ~8.0 then repeat. I've done two rounds so far, each time adding approximately 1/4 gallon of muriatic acid based on the recommended dose in pool math. TA has gone down from 350 to 300 after these two rounds, and I'm about to do a third.

At this rate, if TA reduction is linear, I'm going to need another 2 gallons or so of acid to get below 100 TA, which isn't inexpensive. Before I continue, I'm curious to know whether the relationship here is linear, or if there is a point where the reduction in TA will either accelerate or decelerate, assuming a continued addition of ~ 1/4 gallon per round?

Current chemistry, pre-acid today:

FC 10.5
CC 0.1
pH 8.0
TA 300
CYA 80
CH 120
Salt 3000

Thanks in advance!

Yes, It will take less acid to lower pH from 8 to 7.2 when TA is lower. However, as your TA lowers, pH will not rise as fast as when it is at 300.

Here is a quick thread on lowering TA.
