Is Pentair CCP320 filter too small for my pool?

Hi folks so I'm currently building a new pool which is 20 feet wide x 45 feet long. The shallow end is 4 feet deep and then it gradually slopes down to 5 feet deep at the deep end.

My builder installed the equipment and I didn't really question him on his choices since I assumed he would know what he is doing.

Now I've taken a closer look and it turns out that he actually installed the Pentair CCP320 filter for me. From some internet searches that seems to be too small for my pool.

So I wanted to ask folks here if you think this setup is still fine? Or if we should swap it out for a different filter? The issue is I think some time has passed and the packaging for this filter has long been thrown away and I really doubt it can still be returned at this point. If I keep this current filter, do you think it would be ok or will I have some issues in the future?

Thanks

320 is okay. It will filter your pool fine. With a larger filter you could go longer between cleanings.

Note the clean filter PSI at a specific RPM and clean the filter when pressure increases by 25% over clean PSI.

TFPC recommends you get the largest filter you can afford and put on the equipment pad.
That size is smaller than I would recommend. But as Allen says, it will work. You will just need to clean it more often.
Also depends where you are located in the 'Bay Area'. If near the coast, you get less dust and likely it will last quite some time between cleanings. If inland, you will clean it more often. Your suction side pool cleaner will put debris directly to the filter. So when your pool is dirty, you will be cleaning the filter, often.
Do use hairnets in your skimmer(s). It will reduce the load on the filter.

Thanks for the responses! Yes so I live in an inland part of the Bay Area probably about 30 miles or so from the ocean. In that case would you recommend that I just keep this filter and live with it? Or would it be worth it to upgrade to the higher tier/larger filter? I guess I'd likely have to pay for at least part of the new cost out of pocket.

IF you wish to go bigger, luckily, what you have you do not change the bottom tank or any connections. You have to get a larger top part of the tank and larger cartridges.

Depends on how much cleaning the cartridges will bother you. Are you going to maintain your pool or hire it out?

That's a big relief to hear! I was worried I'd have to disconnect everything and then buy and reinstall a completely new filter unit.

I'm thinking that at least for the first month or two I would hire somebody to maintain the pool and then hopefully I can learn the ropes and start to do it myself. I've never actually cleaned the filter before so I'm not sure how much hassle it would be. I'm generally not too bothered by doing maintenance work around the house, but if its very time consuming or becomes a every few days kind of thing then I think I would want to change it.

Also keeping this smaller filter shouldn't have any detrimental effects on my plaster or anything like that right?

No detrimental effects.
If you use a maintenance company, they will charge a set price for cleaning.
I use something called a Filter Flosser. Check amazon.
I can take apart, clean, and put back together my filter in about 45 minutes.

PG968,

There are people in Florida, that would say your filter is way too big...

My point is that I believe that your current CCP-320 will work just fine.

My gut says that your salt cell is too small.. What brand and size SWCG do you have???

Thanks,

Jim R.
