Is it safe to turn on my pool pump? (Electrical issue)

Hi all,

I was repairing my strainer housing that broke on my Pentair Dynamo pump and I was just about done and I noticed what appeared to be something electrical broke off. See picture.

Curious if this would be safe to turn on my pool pump or what this even is? Some kind of ground wire or bonding wire? The wire connects to the back of the pump and goes into the ground.
You can see where the wire broke off from in the background in the photos.
Thanks for any help!
Aaron

Looks like your bonding wire. Did the wire itself break, or the place where it was connected? Hard to tell in photo.

Can you get a better photo of that spot? You may be able to reconnect... doesn’t have to be pretty!

Go to the hardware store and get a copper bond lug and a copper split bolt that will take #8 copper wire.

Get 1 foot of bare solid copper wire.

Remove the screw from the pump that is holding the broken bond lug.

Install the new bond lug, connect the bare wire to the bond wire with the split bolt and then to the bond lug.
