Is it normal for Jandy pump locking ring (black ring, not clear lid) to be a tad loose when running?

I just noticed that when my Jandy pump is running, the locking ring feels a bit loose and I can wiggle it around a couple of degrees. At the same time the clear lid is pulled down tight by suction and will not budge.

When the pump is off, both the locking lid and ring are tight.

The lid seal appears to be working fine.

Is this normal?

You may need a new O ring. They sometimes get very soft and this will happen.
