Have posted here before about the issues with Pentair pump rpm and the impact on the SWG. The SWG placement was changed in line with Pentair's recommendations of a minimum 8" straight run into the SWG. The fix seemed to work and last for a while. For no apparent reason, the pump reverts to inefficiency. The rpm is 1950 (set minimum), the water stream in the basket is less than normal at that speed, the filter pressure gauge reads 0, & of course, the swg goes crazy. Sometimes the problem fixes itself, sometimes not & needs intervention. I'm a newbie so likely I missing something. Would appreciate thoughts.

A call from our pool service guy...suggests we turn the rpm to 2850 for 12 hours (it's 1950x24hr now); it would accomplish the turnover rate needed, supposedly save on energy, and, perhaps, solve the issue.

You don't need to worry about turnover as that is not relevant. You do need to produce enough chlorine via SWG. Check it to via testing to make sure you are producing enough by running your pump for 12 hours.

My assumption is that you are drawing more watts at 2850 rpm's for 12 hours versus 1850 rpm's for 24 hours. But the important thing is the chlorine.

thank you

If you have a speed of 1425 rpms, then you can use half of the setting on the SWG and run for double the time to get the same amount of chlorine produced. Not sure if you have an option to lower your rpm.
