Is DE getting into my pool from my filter?

I am a new pool owner and trying to be more proactive caring for it rather than relying on pool service. I just got a Dolphin Nautilus CC Supreme (which so far I love) and am noticing it’s picking up a lot of sand/grit in the filter. This is unlike anything we have in our landscaping. Could this be DE from the pool’s filter? I have found this stuff in the Nautilus filter every time I’ve cleaned it out. It dries down very white.

It's possible that is DE, do you see any odd white streaks coming from the returns?

Can you drop a little muriatic acid on some and tell us if it bubbles/fizzes?

I do not see any streaks. I will get some muriatic acid and try that later today.
