Blue … maybe some copper in the water

No worries, just checking. A skimmer sock is a great idea. I think your well water may yield different results given the possibly higher levels of iron as well as sediments.

I wouldn't think copper... stains were yellow/brown and came right up with the AA treatment. Very minimal copper piping in the house (mostly all pex) and I've never used anything other than chemicals recommended here on TFP. But, I suppose it is a possibility. I'll keep that in mind if anything else starts to point in that direction.

You could setup a small blow up paddling pool as a processing tank, pump water from your pool into it, add a lot of bleach, then after leaving it for some time, pump the water back into the pool var the filter.

Batch chemical processing is always easier then trying to get a continues flow process working.
