Hi all - I have the generic Pentair IRCF40 Salt Cell. My Pentair IC40 died during the pandemic and I couldn't find a new one so I went with this and honestly like it more that the IC40. Recently however the salt readings bounce all over the place and I have to re-calibrate it almost daily after my pool pump shuts down for the night (runs 12 hours / day).

Does anyone have any experience with this? I assume its dying but was wondering if a new flow switch would help resolve. I've acid cleaned the fins recently (also had bits of debris caught I cleaned out) and have noticed an improvement for a few days but then goes right back to it.

***Please don't respond with "that's what you get for going generic" - with the pandemic shortage, the price of chlorine skyrocketing, and more than half the price of the name brand I feel I got my moneys worth out of it over the past 4 years***

As you say you got your monies worth and 4 years is a decent life for a non-OEM cell.

One of the ways they keep the cost down is using plates with less of the expensive rare earths so the cell wears out sooner.

Acid cleaning the fins isnt recommended unless its absolutely necessary. The acid shortens fhe life of the cell.
