Intex strainer plug (to clean filter)

Hi all.

We have a 12ft intex prism frame pool, which came with a 530gph intex pump.

We cannot get the strainer hole plug to be firmly attached. (It is not threaded)

I have pushed it on as hard as possible, and even tried securing it by attaching the strainer cover over it, but water still flows out.

Has anyone else experienced this?

It occurred to me that I could simply raise the pump above water level to clean the filter cartridge. That would stop the water flow, right? But I am still hoping i could plug the holes if needed for hose maintenance or emergencies.

I was able to take out and clean the filter cartridge by raising the pump above water level. Still interested to know if anyone has had trouble with the plugs and has a solution. Thanks!

Glad u got it! I just used to raise the pump - never used the plug things.
In fact, I always had a little table to sit the pump on behind the pool until I put in a valve.
