I turned on my new pump yesterday and today I have a small sandbar in my pool. I drained the filter and scooped out all the sand to inspect the standpipe and laterals and they were fine. There’s really no way to get it “seated” in there. It just sort of rests there. The thing I did notice is that the the water coming out of the filter looked cloudy/milky like there was silt coming off the sand for lack of a better term. I’m using Aquaquartz #20 silica sand with a particle size of .45 - .55, which fits the specs of the filter. I backwashed and rinsed until it ran clear (I thought) so I’m not sure what’s going on. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, my signature isn’t showing up. Here’s my info:

Intex SX2300 Krystal Clear sand filter
.6 HP pump
White Knight electric heater
TF-100 test kit

If sand is coming through the filter mechanism, then the sand is not the right size, the mechanism is damaged, or the MPV is damaged. Nothing else will make the filter sand appear in the pool.
