Hello TFP folks,
I have a Intermatic Multiwave "Basic" system to control my pool pump, spa blower and polaris cleaner, a light, and my heater (2-wire/on/off). The Basic system includes the PE653 Receiver that has the 5 relays that do the work of turning stuff on/off and the PE953 remote controller (battery powered, hand held) to schedule on/off and manually turn stuff on/off up to the ramge of Z-Wave, about 100 feet or so.
The Basic system works well with supplied battery powered remote from Intermatic, the PE953. I do read some scary reviews on Amazon.com however about freeze protection not working well. For less than $500 it is a reasonable solution.

Anyway:
I would like to connect the system to my WINK (Z-Wave) hub so I can control the 5 switches from my smartphone. I would really like to include my pool/spa into my home automation system. Wink works well, and allows me to turn on/off a bunch of thinks, use Amazon Echo/Alexa to voice control stuff and schedule activity from my smartphone anywhere. Really cool.
Anyone have any luck connecting MultiWave to WINK? It is a Z-Wave device, so it should be easy. Not so for me.
Here is the PDF on how to program the Mutliwave with a ZWAVE network: http://www.intermatic.com/-/media/inriver/7092-8536.ashx/MultiWave-UserGuide-EN
Chapter 10: Page 45 says: my additions in are bold italic.
I tried this two ways and it did not work as you would think it should.
First I had the PE953 Controller/Remote properly configured and paired with the PE653 Receiver, and followed the procedure to "Include Receiver into a Non-MultiWave Controller" (my Wink Hub). Did nothing.
Next I reset the Controller (Net and Config) and the Receiver, per instructions in Chapter 2:
I then put my Wink Hub into include mode and pushed the Include button on PE653 Receiver. Two switches showed up on WINK app. From the WINK iPhone app I pushed the first new switch and it did nothing. I pushed the 2nd and it started pump (Circuit 1) after long delay. Very slow, long delays, and then after 5 minutes or so the switches shows offline in WINK. Very unreliable.
Reading on, in Intermatic's PDF instructions, I am thinking about trying this:
Chapter 10: Page 45 says: my additions in are bold italic.
I fear that Intermatic is saying means that when you turn on the Pump (button 1 on Intermatic Remote) this action can turn on/off associated devices in your own Z-Wave network. Not what I want to do. I want my Z-Wave device to turn on the Pump, or more easily, have the PE653 Receiver look like 5 switches to my WINK hub.
I may go get a Z-Wave switch to try this.... Anyone else have luck getting your WINK Hub, or any Z-Wave Controller to work with Intermatic MultiWave?
Best,
Paul

- Including Receiver into a Non-MultiWave Controller Follow this procedure to include the PE653 receiver into another manufacturer’s controller: 1. Activate the manufacturer’s controller INCLUDE function. 2. Press the INCLUDE button on the PE653 receiver. The red flashing LED on the PE653 receiver changes to steady ON. NOTE: The steady ON LED flashes when it is communicating with another device.

- Creating a Network The controller must be synced with the receiver to create a network connection. Be sure to reset the controller and receiver before synchronizing the two devices. Perform the following procedures: Resetting the Controller, Resetting the Receiver, then Linking the Controller to Receiver.
I then put my Wink Hub into include mode and pushed the Include button on PE653 Receiver. Two switches showed up on WINK app. From the WINK iPhone app I pushed the first new switch and it did nothing. I pushed the 2nd and it started pump (Circuit 1) after long delay. - Setting Up Z-Wave Associations with Capable Devices An Association is a Z-Wave device other than the MultiWave controller (Intermatic's Handheld Remote) that can be used to control other Z-Wave devices (Z-Wave Switches or relays I have) in a MultiWave PE653 or PE953 network. Setting up an association with a Z-Wave device in the PE653/PE953 network makes it possible to turn Circuit 1 ON/OFF along with lighting and other features controlled by another Z-Wave device (not including the MultiWave controller), (if this is Turn on a Z-Wave Switch and it turns on the Pump, then we are close to what I want). Follow this procedure to set up an association: 1. Press P/S and ENTER simultaneously to access LEARN MODE. 2. Press to scroll to the CNTRL CONFIG screen. 3. Press 5 to select SETUP ASSOCIATIONS.
I fear that Intermatic is saying means that when you turn on the Pump (button 1 on Intermatic Remote) this action can turn on/off associated devices in your own Z-Wave network. Not what I want to do.
