I have contemplated this for many years. I go back and forth lol

But I am thinking the older I get the more inconvenient lugging the chlorine jugs.

So I am a big inyopool fan, I know they use pureline, which I have a pureline pump and it is solid.

I am looking at this from inyo...

I am very handy I do all my own work on just about anything. I am very good with pool chemistry, so no problem there.

Questions:

Should I get a variable speed pump ?

What other SWG do you guys recommend?

I was in the same position you are in- 22 years hauling chlorine jugs and trashing clothes with chlorine splatter-enough! Last year I installed an RJ-60 (I recomend that size for your pool) and love it. At the same time I replaced my 22 year old never failed 11/2 hp Sureflo pump with a Circupool 11/2 hp VSP. Outstanding customer service and extremely fast ship time on a replacement part. At the same time I replaced the sand in my filter with glass media and put in a new titanium tube in shell heat exchanger (I heat my pool with a wood fired boiler). Total remodel of my plumbing took an easy day. Good luck with your upgrades.

You'd have to rip my VSP and SWCG out of my cold, dead hands.
I love that my pool is constantly skimming, filtering, and making chlorine.

VSP allows for 24/7 run time at a fraction of electrical costs of a single speed.
SWCG is just better in every way. Only caveat is that you need to track CSI and not let it get out of hand.
Go for a 60k SWCG if available.

I'm a big dude, so I'd beat the offender with them, then promptly put them back in service. 😁

@coachhim, I had both for 8.5 years before moving. There was some question on what the builder could get, or moreso, no answer to the question. So i had both sitting in my garage before I inked the build contract. I technically had a system with no builder.

They were *that* important IMO.

*also. 60k is the largest residential unit and the only way to go for you.

You're going to love a SWCG, and then kick yourself for not getting one years ago.

Yes. The synergy of VSP, SWCG, and 24/7 operation is excellent.

Both the 60k pureline and Circupool will conservitively produce over 1500 jugs worth of FC in 26k gallons.

I cannot overstate that convienence no matter how hard I try.

Not well...here's the issue I'm struggling with now:

Salt Cell Failed? Low Salt and High Temperature Readings

Well, I've been pretty happy with my Pureline SWG until this week...it has just started shutting down on Low Salt (after running for a few minutes once switched on and presumably generating chlorine, based on the appearance of bubbles at the pool jets prior to shutdown). I checked salt levels...

It's actually gotten worse, the cell now reads 143 degrees and won't run at all - throws a "Hot" error message.

I've asked InyoPools to at least offer a discount on a replacement cell, as a lifespan of barely over a year / 1500 hours of use is unacceptable. Waiting to hear back, if they aren't helpful I guess I'll wire the temp sensor leads to a potentiometer or a secondary temperature sensor as a workaround.

Get the CircuPool RJ60, at this point I wish I had...

That is interesting to hear from Inyo Pools. I bought their Chinese pump and housing last year. Not too bad right now. But they did replace the housing for me. It took some back and forth. it looked threads at the plastic bolts had been either cross threaded or something. Could you possibly file a consumer protection complaint with your states Attorney general's office?? No company likes to receive those letters that they are under investigation, or BBB complaints

The major difference what I see with Inyo is the warranty is not as good as circupool and the hours on the cell isnt as long. sorry about your issue.

Another question. Looking at these pictures where would you think the salt cell should go? I am thinking the blue circled is too small, but the red circle seems to be perfect, but does the cell need to be horizontal? can it work at this angle? My pump/filter is away from the house near the back fence of my backyard. and I am thinking of some ways I can get this going for power, is the main control box waterproof?? What would be the other competition for circupools?

FWIW, I am 1-2 months out of warranty, so they don't technically owe me anything. But I hope that, as a goodwill gesture, they'd at least offer a discount on a replacement cell.

I also noticed that their Pureline systems are currently on clearance and they don't appear to sell the 60k gallon replacement cell on their website, so maybe they're phasing these systems out. All the more reason to go with the CircuPool RJ60.

Yes that was another thing I saw that I did not see the replacement cell on their website. I am wondering if they are phasing it out too
 
The cell can orient either way but the flow switch needs to be horizontal or have 'up flow'. If you mount it downward, gravity will close the switch when it fails. It won't be for some time, probably a long time, but it's a cheapo 19 cent moving part and will fail.

Don't be constricted by what you see. You can add pipe any direction from A to B to accomplish the goal. A few 90s won't make any appreciable change to flow.
 
The blue circle looks just long enough to squeeze the flow switch in there, but if not, here's an example of thinking outside the box
