My Intellipro VS pump about 2 weeks ago suddenly stopped communicating with my Easytouch panel. My pump was replaced a little over 3 and 1/2 years ago and I have never had a problem until now. I have had the EasyTouch 4 remote which also stopped working. The pump works manually in the service mode. Things I have tried:

1. Resend the address to the Easy touch remote from the control panel. Worked a couple of times at first but would loose communication within hours and then it wouldn't work at all.

2. Installed the wireless screenlogic system. I didn't think it would help with my pump but I had been thinking about getting it for awhile so I did. The screenlogic app on my iphone communicates with the pool by registering temperatures and pump settings. However, if I change the pool schedule for the pump run time, it does not change it in the EasyTouch panel.

3. I first used a different connection on the surge board panel for the RS-485 cable from the pump which didn't make a difference. I then replaced the RS-485 cable with a brand new one which also did not make a difference.

4. I replaced just the electronic display panel on my intelliflo pump with the one from my original pump. The lower circuit board I did not replace. This at first gave me hope as I had communication of my pump on the EasyTouch panel for about 1 hour and then I discovered the pump stopped working and it the panel was saying no communication. I can start the pump manually in the service mode.

After reading several other postings, I believe my problem is with a RS-485 chip. I have seen the video posted about how to replace it on the control panel. However, I get the feeling that the problem lies in the pump as my control panel is still communicating with the intelliclor and valves including for solar but I could be wrong. My question is there an RS-485 chip located in the intellifpro VS pump? If so, where is it located, my best guess would be located on the lower circuit board in the pump. Any help would be much appreciated.

T,

Try this quick test..

Turn on a light with your remote or ScreenLogic. Your remote should indicate the light is on. Go out and ensure the light is on. Then using the main panel, turn off the light. Ensure the light is off. Ensure your remote now shows the light is off.

If the above test works, then the RS-485 chip on the EasyTouch's main card is good.

I tend to agree that it is most likely the RS-485 chip in the pump..

One thing to check is the pins inside the connector at the pump. Make sure they is no corrosion. We have seen reports where the pins on the pump side have corroded almost in half. Spray some electronics cleaner in there..

I have no idea where the RS-485 chip is located in the pump, but assume it would be in the display section..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you for your quick response. After doing what you suggested, I am now leaning towards the RS-485 chip in the control panel. I turned on both the pool light and spa light in the screenlogic app. The sliders turned green but within a minute both turned back to the off position and the lights never came on. I then when to the control panel and turned both the pool and spa lights on. The screenlogic app registered that the lights were on and when I walked to the pool, I confirmed they were indeed on. Next, I tried turning off the lights with the app but within less than 30 seconds the sliders went back to the on position with the green bar and the lights never turned off in the pool or spa. Last, I turned off the lights at the control panel and my both my app registered them as off and they did turn off. Because of this test, I am now leaning towards replacing the RS-485 chip on the control panel. I will need to order then so it will probably take a couple of weeks for them to arrive and to have time to replace it.
